Hello! Thanks for booking with MJ Photographics for your headshot session! I’m excited to shoot with you! Before you click over to my booking site I just wanted to make sure you have all the information you need and give some instructions that will make the booking process go smoothly.


Both studio sessions and outdoor sessions are available depending on what feeling you’re looking for in your headshots.


Studio sessions take place at The Women’s Council House on Young Ave. in the South End. I rent the space on an as needed basis so bookings times are subject to space availability. See more in the Booking Process section. 


Outdoor sessions can take place pretty much anywhere in HRM. I am available to travel outside HRM for a travel fee. Outdoor sessions are weather dependant. I usually touch base with clients the night before the shoot to confirm if the weather is cooperating and if not our session will be rescheduled.

Current Booking Updates

Any updates to my schedule, proofing, and editing timelines due to holidays and vacations will appear here!

  • I will be away for work September 15th to 23rd. My last shooting day before I leave is September 7th.
  • Early September bookings may have proofing and editing timelines adjusted.
  • Bookings that come through during this time will be confirmed within a couple days of my return.

Booking Process

To book a session you can click on the button at the bottom of this page to be taken to my booking site. There you can choose the package you wish to book and view my availability calendar. Click a date to see all times available. Once you choose a date and time you’ll be prompted to fill in some information


  • If you are booking for someone else please book the session under their name and their contact information. (For minors please see the section on Booking for Kids and Teens)
  • If you would like to provide additional contact information you can put it in the more information section of the booking questionnaire
  • Bookings are not officially confirmed until your deposit is paid and we have chatted via email.


You will get an email from emily@mjphotographics.com to work out your shoot details. 


Studio Session Booking Note: Times and dates chosen in the booking process are subject to availability of the space. I will follow up with you via email to confirm whether your preferred time is available, it may take a few business days to get back to you. Flexibility with your dates and times is super appreciated. You can tell me about additional options for you in the questionnaire you’ll fill out when you go through the booking process. If you're looking to book a studio session on a Saturday I recommend booking 3-4 weeks out as the space gets booked up quickly on weekends.


Payment of session deposits takes place upon booking. The remaining payment is due on the day of your shoot. Invoices will arrive via email from my booking system Pixieset. Please make sure you have my email in your contacts so my messages don’t go to junk mail.

Booking for Kids & Teens

For headshot or portrait sessions with anyone under the age of 18, I do require that I connect with a parent or guardian before I can confirm the shoot, so I recommend that an adult complete the booking. When filling out the booking information please put the name of the child or teen in the name field and include the name of the supervising adult in the questionnaire included in the booking process. The contact information, phone number and email, should be the adult’s information. If teens wish to also receive emails about their shoot they can include their email in more information section of the questionnaire.

Availability & Timelines

My schedule is always open 7-60 days out. Meaning you could potentially book as soon as next week and as late as two months from now depending on availability. If you need a last minute booking shoot me an email! I can't make any promises but I may be able to fit you in!


I do my best to keep my schedule up to date on my booking tool, but sometimes I may need to adjust the time or date you requested. Very occasionally, I may need to reschedule an appointment that’s already been approved due to circumstances outside my control. 


When booking it’s also good to take into consideration my proofing and editing timelines. 

  • For headshot sessions I have proofs up within a week of our shoot and edits done within two weeks of receiving your choices. 
  • For all portrait sessions all of the images will be edited and uploaded to a gallery within 4 weeks of our session.
  • Rush proofing and editing may be available and can be requested on your booking questionnaire. Not all rush requests can be approved, please email me before booking if you have an imminent deadline for your images.
  • Any adjustments to my editing timelines due to holidays will be noted on the booking page of my website as soon as the information is available.
