Hello! Thanks for considering MJ Photographics for your headshot, branding, or grad session! I’m excited to shoot with you! Before you reach out about booking I just wanted to make sure you have all the information you need and give some instructions that will make the booking process go smoothly. Both studio sessions and outdoor sessions are available for your headshots depending on what feeling you’re looking for. Grad sessions are all done in-studio and I usually suggest actors book in studio sessions as well.
Studio sessions take place at The Women’s Council House on Young Ave. in the South End. I rent the space on an as needed basis so bookings times are subject to space availability. See more in the Booking Process section.
Outdoor sessions can take place pretty much anywhere in HRM. I am available to travel outside HRM for a travel fee. Outdoor sessions are weather dependant. I usually touch base with clients the night before or morning of the shoot day to confirm if the weather is cooperating and if not our session will be rescheduled.
My Branding Session offers the flexibility of in-studio, on-location, and/or outdoor sessions. Email me for a consultation!

Any updates to my schedule, proofing, and editing timelines due to holidays and vacations will appear here!
I am away on vacation from June 26th to July 3rd and then out of province for work from July 4th to 11th. Proofing and editing timelines may be adjusted to account for my time away. Details will be provided when booking your session.
Booking Process
To book a session fill out the form at the bottom of this page, this will send me an email with your information and I'll respond within 1-3 business days to finalize some details and get a booking into my system. All bookings require a deposit before they are confirmed and in my calendar.
Please include emily@mjphotographics.com in your safe senders list so my reply to your booking request doesn't go to junk mail.
Studio Session Booking Note: As mentioned above the studio space I use is booked on an as needed basis and sessions are subject to availability. Flexibility with your dates and times is super appreciated and more likely to result in a successful booking. If you're looking to book a studio session on a Saturday I recommend booking 4-5 weeks out as the space gets booked up quickly on weekends.
Payment of session deposits takes place upon booking. The remaining payment is due on the day of your shoot. Invoices will arrive via email from my booking system Pixieset.
Booking for Kids & Teens
For headshot or grad sessions with anyone under the age of 18, I do require that I connect with a parent or guardian before I can confirm the shoot, so I recommend that an adult complete the booking. When filling out the booking form below please put the full name of the child or teen in your booking request. The contact information, phone number and email, should be the adult’s information. If teens wish to also receive emails about their shoot you can include their email in the comments section of the form.
Availability & Timelines
My busy season is often April through to mid-December and I suggest booking any session at least 3-4 weeks in advance, or more if you're looking to book in on a weekend. It's really never too early to book so feel free to reach out a few months ahead if you have your heart set on a certain date.
When booking it’s also good to take into consideration my proofing and editing timelines.
- For headshot & grad sessions I have proofs up within a week of our shoot and edits done within two weeks of receiving your choices.
- For branding sessions I'll have proofs available within 10 days of our shoot and edits done within two weeks of receiving your choices.
- For all portrait sessions, all of the images will be edited and uploaded to a gallery within 4-6 weeks of our session.
- Rush proofing and editing may be available for headshot sessions only and can be requested on your booking form. Not all rush requests can be approved, it will depend on my current workload.
- Any adjustments to my editing timelines due to holidays will be noted above and/or via email when booking as soon as the information is available.
- Group headshot or branding sessions will have custom proofing & editing timelines.
